Fall is here and winter is just around the corner! 🥶time to get your house in shape for the cold months ahead. We want to make sure that even though the seasons are changing your enjoyment of your home will not! Here are some home maintenance ideas that will keep your home running in peak condition all winter long.
1. Clean Your Gutters
During the fall season, the wind is blowing more than normal which means leaves will end up in your gutters. Grab a ladder & some gloves to clear out all debris to keep water flowing well and away from your home.
2. Check smoke detectors
The cold weather is approaching which means we are firing up those furnaces and collecting wood for the fireplace. Now is a great time to make sure your smoke and CO2 detectors are working. Be sure to check battery expiration dates.
3. Aerate The Social
Aerate your lawn at least once a year, preferably in the fall. Want to have green grass this fall and next spring? This is arguably one of the most important tasks you can perform to maintain a healthy lawn. You can rent a lawn aerator at any home and garden equipment store, or call a pro 🙂
4. Drain Garden Hoses
Now and then, freezing water splits a hose open and can also cause damage to the hose bib. Be sure to properly drain all houses so when spring comes back around you won’t have to spend extra money getting all new hoses or making repairs.
We hope these are some helpful hints for you this season and help you and your family to enjoy your home to the fullest!

Another thing you should do to get your home ready for winter is to check your heating system to ensure it works properly and smoothly. Problems with heating is more than just about discomfort. It can cause the pipes in your house to freeze. Frozen pipes are a very common problem that has huge property damage! The water expands when it freezes and rupture the pipes. Eventually, you may need pipe replacement.
Huge addition to the list! Great insight!
